Whiskey & Wine

So, late 2012 I was commissioned by a friend to paint his favourite whiskey and his wife's favourite wine, I asked if he would allow me to take my time to paint it between other paintings as it was quite complicated with alot of reflections. He agreed and so i started....slowly.

I started slowly refining areas and concentrated on making it the best painting i could. With me only ever touching it when i had a spare 2/3 hours usually at the weekend, progression was going at a snails pace but i didn't realise quite how slow it was taking me until my friend dropped into a conversation that it was rapidly approaching  year since he first commissioned me, to say I was shocked would be an understatement so I promised i would work until it was finished.

Over 4 weeks later I had finished, it was a combination of personal triumph with certain painting challenges achieved, and frustration at how slow it was going. But the client was happy and it is arguably one of my best still life's to date.
